“the inclusivity edit” archives
“The Inclusivity Edit” is a monthly newsletter celebrating body confidence, self-love, and all things disabled representation.

body positive phrases I’m tired of hearing
“Real women have curves.”
“Strong is beautiful.”
“I’d rather be this size than unhealthy.”
“Focus more on what your body does than how it looks.
What do all of these phrases have in common?
They try to uplift one group by stepping on another.
And they are deeply rooted in ableism and body shaming.

body positivity shouldn’t come with a double standard
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are starring in one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. And while there is a lot of excitement in the media and online, there’s also a troubling trend emerging: speculation about their bodies — particularly their weight and health.

The start of something inclusive
Welcome to the very first-ever edition of The Inclusivity Edit! I’m so excited to have you here :)
A special shoutout to Ali (@seated.perspectives) for helping me make this newsletter happen!
So, why The Inclusivity Edit? Well, coming up with a name for a newsletter is hard. I started my social media under my own name without really thinking abomostly because no one else in the world has my name.) But it doesn’t exactly lend itself to cute or witty puns, does it?
